Key Points: Configuring and Using Floating Mullions

1. Recreate a mullion as a floating mullion.
60mm mullion is a standard size for a range/company. In the given example, a casement window is made with a 60mm mullion internally, and 30mm externally.

Remove the mullion and the casements, replace them with a French mullion and tick  has floating mullion.

2. Meeting stile editor.
Casement stiles less glazing rebate are shown on the mullion editor. In the given example:

a. Casement stile less glazing rebate = 18mm

b. Overall = Master leaf + master LH stile = slave RH stile + 35mm mullion fixed to slave sash + 5mm clearance = 37 + 35 + 5 + 37 = 114mm

Note: There is no gap on the slave leaf. The 5mm gap is taken up by the mullion, and 5mm is machined out of the slave side, giving 10mm stop left side, 15mm right side.

3. Default values and increasing mullion thickness.
Values are set on French casement default values.  In the given example, the finished external mullion thickness is increased by 5mm, from 30mm to 35mm.

4. Default values and increasing slave sash stile.
Instead of increasing mullion thickness, the slave sash stile can be increased. This can be done on the timber cutting list. The given example shows a rule on the casement loop.
